Expressive Arts Support Group

"Making the decision to have a child -- It is momentous. it is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body." - Elizabeth Stone

Newborns are hard, sleep is hard, parenting is hard, marriages are hard. Actually, sometimes it’s all hard and it takes a lot of work to keep going. Sometimes at the end of any day we just need someone to say "I see you. I hear you.". These groups focus on connection, expression, coping, and finding yourself through meditation and creative avenues. This is a welcoming, supportive group. Providing you with self-knowledge and tools for your journey into motherhood while creating bonds with other moms.

Support Group Topics Include:

Week ONE: Sense of Self
Week TWO: Intense Emotions & Coping
Week THREE: Exaustion
Week FOUR: Communication
Week FIVE: Expectations& Boundaries
Week SIX: Mindfulness
Week SEVEN: Self Care
Week EIGHT: Wrap Up & Intention Setting

The 8 weeks will be spent:

  • Connecting….lots of connecting, connecting with yourself & other moms
  • Dialogue with other moms
  • Reflecting & journaling
  • Guided mindful exercises
  • Guided expressive art
  • Intimate setting, maximum 6 moms

This group is a judgement free zone. This is a space for community and sharing.
Everyone will be asked to sign a confidentiality agreement - so ensure everyones autonomy.

* Aspects will include: art, poetry, narrative, music, and more. No experience necessary.

"The first week was my favourite topic {Sense of Self}. As a new mom, it feels like your old world and your new world are colliding and finding that middle ground can be really confusing and sad. This discussion helped me realize that being a new mom is a discovery of the best and worst parts of you, and what that means moving forward. It should be an empowering journey, not a sad one, even thought that is hard some days. It's okay to not be okay and to find this journey hard, but it's worth it."
"Open, honest, supportive conversations."
"Kayla often said 'be gentle on yourself'. That really stuck with me, and I say it to myself daily. I genuinely learned to be kinder and more patient with myself, and have been able to practice that."
