HOW TO CONNECT WITH YOUR INNER HOUSE (AKA YOUR BODY)

DO YOU REMEMBER THE LAST TIME YOU STOPPED TO NOTICE WHAT IS HAPPENING INSIDE YOUR BODY?

Are you moving through life on auto pilot? Are you taking the time to stop and notice (really notice) what’s going on inside your body?

I hear from so many women that they feel like they are just “powering through” without conscious thinking. They admit that they are ignoring pains (both emotional and physical) in the name of staying busy and productive. They are not honouring what they need, as the needs of others are “more important.” Does this sound like you?

Your body has so much to teach if you’ve come to listen. IMAGINE that your body is like a house. There are bright rooms, dark rooms, neglected rooms, and rooms where you store things. IMAGINE the rooms your inner house is made up of.

During this exercise you will be connecting with your body while exploring all of it’s inner rooms (so to speak).

Let’s get started. YOUR body is beautiful. YOUR soul is dazzling. YOU are worthy of this life.

WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW AND DOWNLOAD THE WORKSHEET TO HELP YOU CONNECT TO YOUR BODY.

After walking yourself through this exercise you will have connected with your body, it’s rooms and have an understanding of what you need to honour your true self.

Three ways to SLOW DOWN (and LISTEN to your body):

  1. Body Scanning
Close your eyes. Breathe deeply three times. Start at the top of your head and work your way down to your feet - notice what’s happening inside your body (without judgement or need to immediate changes).

  2. Meditate
It brings joy and light into YOUR life. It’s about practice and not perfection.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I highly recommend using the HEADSPACE app. IMAGINE slowing down your thoughts and being able to clear some headspace (no pun intended).

  3. Journaling
If you don’t journal now, GET started today! It decreases stress and cultivates joy.

This expressive art therapy exercise WILL boost your mood, identify some thought patterns and guide you on how to create change within your own life, but please don’t replace these exercises for therapy, personalized care, or individualized advice.

In everything I do I am (figuratively) shouting from the roof tops for women to seek out the resources they need (ie. self-help books, finding a therapist, accessing support services, and/or personal coaching).

If you are needing more individualized services or to talk this over with a professional, please connect with me. In my private practice I am passionate about holding space for women who are living with stress, anxiety, overwhelm, and depression. I offer a free 30 minute meet + greet to see if I could be the right support person for you. I offer both in-person and virtual therapy sessions.

I believe you are courageous, and if you are someone who is struggling YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DO IT ALONE (oh, please don’t do it alone)! #endthestigma
