HOW TO FEEL LIKE YOU'RE ENOUGH
IF I ASKED YOU TO NAME ALL THE THINGS YOU LOVE… HOW LONG TILL YOU NAMED YOURSELF?
Loving yourself doesn’t mean you think you’re the prettiest, smartest, most talented person ever. It means that you love yourself even with your faults, you embrace your shortcomings and accept your imperfections. When you have a love (and gentleness) for yourself you are compassionate towards yourself (even when you make a mistake).
When you love yourself you can talk to yourself like you would a friend. You treat yourself kindly. You notice your inner critic and invoke your inner champion.
YOU ARE ENOUGH JUST AS YOU ARE. NO ONE IS EXPECTING MORE OF YOU THEN YOU!
WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW AND DOWNLOAD THIS WORKSHEET TO HELP SEE ALL THE WAYS YOU ARE ENOUGH JUST AS YOU ARE.
After walking yourself through this exercise you will come out the other with more words and confidence around what you NEED.
Three ways to SHOW yourself some LOVE:
YOUR world will not implode if you go to the coffee shop, take an art class, or do whatever is
CALLING YOUR NAME. You are not neglecting others by taking care of yourself. The more you look after YOURSELF (who else is going to do it?) the more you will wake up each day with a smile and choose to be present in your life.
SPONTANEOUS DANCE PARTY
Get up right now and move your body! Please have a dance party, if not for you, then for me. I have people asking me all the time - but why dancing? Here’s why.
”When we dance our brain releases endorphins, neurotransmitters that create a feeling of comfort, relaxation, fun and power. Music and dance do not only activate the sensory and motor circuits of our brain, but also the pleasure centers.” - Psychology Spot
Sometimes you find yourself in a situation where you want to talk about what's happening in your life, but you really don't want advice or solutions from anyone. Enter journaling (ART or words). You can express why you're upset, who you're mad at, what you're enjoying, how you screwed up, and no one is going to give you unsolicited advice or try to "fix it".
ENJOY the process! AND you can READ MORE HERE.
In everything I do I am (figuratively) shouting from the roof tops for women to seek out the resources they need (ie. self-help books, finding a therapist, accessing support services, and/or personal coaching). Intrusive negative self-talk is connected to perfectionism, anxiety, and depression.
This expressive art therapy exercise WILL boost your mood, identify some thought patterns and guide you on how to create change within your own life, but please don’t replace these exercises for therapy, personalized care, or individualized advice.
If you are needing more individualized services or to talk this over with a professional, please connect with me. In my private practice I am passionate about holding space for women who are living with stress, anxiety, overwhelm, and depression. I offer a free 30 minute meet + greet to see if I could be the right support person for you. I offer both in-person and virtual therapy sessions.
I believe you are courageous, and if you are someone who is struggling YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DO IT ALONE (oh, please don’t do it alone)! #endthestigma
