HOW TO SILENCE YOUR INNER CRITIC

WE ALL HAVE AN INNER CRITIC… DOES YOURS HAVE A NAME?

This voice is formed at an early age - you may not even be able to differenciate between your own authentic thoughts and those of your inner critic.

YOUR inner critic voice might shout things at you, “Your boss hates you, you are not producing enough results, you will never be praised for your efforts. You are not good enough”

YOUR inner critic voice might be making noise in your relationships, “He/she doesn't really even like you. It will never last. Don’t be vulnerable. Be mad at them. It’s all their fault”

YOUR inner critic voice might be consistently telling you that you aren't GOOD enough.

So then, how do we silence it? How do we tell ourselves we are "good enough"?

HOW TO FEEL LIKE YOU'RE ENOUGH

IF I ASKED YOU TO NAME ALL THE THINGS YOU LOVE… HOW LONG TILL YOU NAMED YOURSELF?

Loving yourself doesn’t mean you think you’re the prettiest, smartest, most talented person ever. It means that you love yourself even with your faults, you embrace your shortcomings and accept your imperfections. When you have a love (and gentleness) for yourself you are compassionate towards yourself (even when you make a mistake).

When you love yourself you can talk to yourself like you would a friend in distress. You treat yourself kindly. You notice your inner critic and invoke your inner champion. You don’t nit pick and berate yourself.

YOU ARE ENOUGH JUST AS YOU ARE. NO ONE IS EXPECTING MORE OF YOU THEN YOU!

HOW TO GIVE YOURSELF SPACE

WHEN IS THE LAST TIME YOU STOPPED TO CATCH YOUR BREATH?

This creative process will open up space in your brain, breath and body.

This exercise will have you mindfully breathing, connecting to your authentic thoughts and exploring your creative side.

As women OWE it to ourselves to put ourselves FIRST! Too often we get stuck in the daily grind and start to lose sight of the bigger picture. Our sense of self, compassion and creativity takes a back seat.

Whilst it may seem counterproductive to “take time for yourself” (what, when life is so busy and all), it is so incredibly important for you to give yourself the time and space you need to reconnect with yourself, your thoughts and the things you love.

Let’s dive right in. YOU have such inner wisdom. I believe in you!

HOW TO CONNECT WITH YOUR INNER HOUSE (AKA YOUR BODY)

DO YOU REMEMBER THE LAST TIME YOU STOPPED TO NOTICE WHAT IS HAPPENING INSIDE YOUR BODY?

Are you moving through life on auto pilot? Are you taking the time to stop and notice (really notice) what’s going on inside your body?

I hear from so many women that they feel like they are just “powering through” without conscious thinking. They admit that they are ignoring pains (both emotional and physical) in the name of staying busy and productive. They are not honoring what they need, as the needs of others are “more important”. Does this sound like you too?

Your body has so much to teach if you’ve come to listen. IMAGINE that your body is like a house. There are bright rooms, dark rooms, neglected rooms, and rooms here you store things. IMAGINE the rooms your inner house is made up of.

During this exercise you will be connecting with your body while exploring all of it’s inner rooms (so to speak).

Let’s get started. YOUR body is beautiful. YOUR soul is ravishing. YOU are worthy of this life.

HOW TO FEEL YOUR FEELINGS

HAVE YOU BEEN HAVING SOME BIG FEELINGS? Have you been honoring them, ignoring them or shoving them down?

It’s amazing how our mind settles when we set the intention and make an conscious effort to just be in the moment. I invite you to focus on being ok with going with the flow and just trust what comes.

This exercise came about from a fairly emotional day with my four year old. He was having some BIG feelings (ahem defiance) and he didn’t have the words to tell me what was really going on in his big world. After some tearful journalling I thought wow, this totally happens to me too. Sometimes it can take me a few days for me to sort out some of my own big feelings with words. This exercise helped me identify the feelings and sit when them for awhile.

IMAGINE some of the BIG feelings you’ve been feeling and how you’d like to honor them during this exercise.

Let’s get started. YOUR feelings are valid. YOU deserve the time and space to feel them. YOU are worthy.

HOW TO SCRIBBLE OUT YOUR STRESS

FEELING A LITTLE STRESSED? Don’t know how to get passed it?

Stress... we all feel it. We all have it. We could all use reprieve from it.

The inspiration for this exercise came from a particularly stressful week. I was really needing to move my body, while using shape and color to release some of my stress.

The stress I’m talking about is normal everyday stuff… work needs to be done, tired mama, needy baby and hyper four year old. This is simply just the season I’m in and the stress is just part of it. Not much can be said or fixed. I needed to create time and space for me to take care of ME, take a moment for breath and creativity. What this stress really needed was to be felt and expressed. It was something I simply needed to move through and accept.

IMAGINE some of your stressors and how you can move through them.

Let’s jump right in. Stress happens. YOU are worthy of the five minutes it takes to complete this exercise. YOU are enough.
