30 Creative Prompts for Maternal Mental Health

Hey there, mama! Are you caught up in the endless loop of busyness?

Constantly juggling a million thoughts in your head while trying to keep it together?

I hear you, I see you, and I've got just the thing to help you hit the pause button and give your mind some much-needed breathing room.

In this blog post, I've created a collection of journal prompts specifically for busy moms like you.

Why Creativity is Important for Mothers

RESEARCH SHOWS YOU CAN BOOST YOUR MOOD WITH 20 MINUTES OF CREATIVITY! Meaning, if you do nothing else but express yourself for 20 minutes a day you will feel different/better!

Creativity isn't just about putting pen to paper; it's a powerful tool for untangling the mess of thoughts swirling around in your head.

As moms, we carry a heavy mental load, and that weight can sometimes feel overwhelming.

Creativity provides a safe space to unload those thoughts, feelings, and worries. It's a form of self-care that offers clarity, perspective, and a sense of release.

By getting your thoughts out of your head and onto paper, you create space for new insights to emerge and old patterns to be recognized and transformed.

The Blank Page can be Daunting: Use these Prompts for Written or Art Journaling

These creative prompts are designed to spark your creativity and invite you to explore your thoughts and emotions in a playful way. They are called sentence stems, they are the beginning of a sentence to get you started or to spark an idea and you fill in the rest.

You can use them for traditional written journaling by completing the sentences with words of your own. Or, if you're feeling more visually expressive, try using them as art journal prompts by incorporating images, colors, and shapes.

  1. Grab your favorite journal, a set of colorful pens

  2. Write the part of the sentence stem I started for you.

  3. Keep writing till you feel like the thought is complete.

  4. Come back tomorrow and do another one!

Remember, there's no right or wrong way to respond—just let your thoughts flow and see where they take you.

I believe that women are not given the tools to succeed in parenting. Constantly striving for an unattainable standard leaves mothers feeling inadequate and overwhelmed.

Through the use of creative arts, there is a beautiful moment of sacred stillness. A simple act of intentional creativity can remind a mother of who she is, what is truly important, and what she is capable of.

I aim to provide the best creative arts services both online and in person, because every mother deserves a simple and effective outlet for finding chill, being vibrant and feeling alive.
