Mom Burnout Counselling with Kayla Huszar

A bubble bath isn't going to fix this level of exhaustion.

You've been running on empty so long you forgot what full feels like.

Yes, benefit coverage eligible, too!

Not in AB, SK OR ON, Canada? Let’s get you where you need to be!

If this sounds like you

You're still showing up. You're just not really there.

The numb scrolling at the end of the night. The portal refreshing that you tell yourself is productivity. The quiet detachment that creeps in somewhere between breakfast and bedtime - the low-level "I can't do this" that you push down because you have to keep doing this.

Your kids push every button. You're there for everyone. You have no idea what you actually need. You say "I'm fine" and you almost mean it.

You're shorter with your kids than you want to be. Snappier. Maybe you've yelled a time or two and felt the guilt land immediately. You keep going anyway. Push down the feelings. Scroll a little more. Tell yourself this is just what it is right now.

You're still functioning. Still showing up. Still doing the thing. But something's gone flat. You're more irritable than you want to be and less present than you know you could be.

You know what would help. More sleep. More space. Something that's actually yours. But getting there feels like one more thing on a list that never gets shorter. And the guilt of taking it makes the whole thing feel like it's not worth trying.

So you keep going. Flirting with burnout, as a client once put it. Annoyed about it. Wondering how long you can run on this little before something finally gives.

More patience. More presence. More of you actually wanting to be here.

Through this work, you can:

We might be a fit if this sounds familiar.

Is this right for you?

You're not falling apart. You're just completely depleted - and nobody around you seems to notice because you're still doing everything.

The pattern goes like this. You wake up already tired. You get through the day. You do the things. You tell yourself you'll rest soon, when things slow down, when this particular season passes. But the season doesn't pass. It just changes shape. And somewhere along the way you stopped being able to remember what it felt like to not be running on fumes.

You're not in crisis. You're just... grey. And that's exactly why it keeps getting ignored - including by you.

That's the work. And it goes a lot deeper than that fantasy of running away to a cabin in the woods just to get a f*cking break.

This work asks something of you.

Some willingness to sit with the uncomfortable parts - not just the tired parts, but the resentment, the guilt, the places you've been saying yes when you meant no for years. If right now you just need to get through the week, that's real and that's okay. The free resources are a good place to start.

Meet your therapist

I'm Kayla Huszar.

I'm a registered social worker and mom guilt therapist - featured in Maclean's Magazine (Apple News Best of 2025) and on CBC's The Current. My work addresses burnout at the root: what's draining you, what's gone missing, and what it would actually take for you to feel okay again. Not okay for everyone else. Okay for you.

I'm also an ADHD mom, a solo parent half the time while my husband works away, and someone who has had to learn the hard way that running on empty isn't a personality trait. It's a pattern. And patterns can change.

What changes on the other side of burnout isn't just that you're less tired. It's that you stop white-knuckling every decision and start making them from a place that actually has something in it.

If you're feeling drawn to this work, the next step is a free 20-minute conversation.

The next step

We'll talk about what you're carrying and figure out together whether working with me makes sense - and if so, where to start.

Regardless of whether we work together, you'll leave with a clearer sense of what your next step is. Sometimes that's working with me. Sometimes it's something else. Either way, you'll know more than you do now.

The shift this work creates

From running on fumes - to actually being here.

Right now Depleted. Irritable. Scrolling at midnight. Getting through the day. Waiting for the season that finally slows down.

After this work

Still busy. Not running on empty. Knowing what fills you back up. Making choices from a place that actually has something in it.

Burnout doesn't resolve on its own - and it doesn't resolve by adding more things to your to-do list, even good things. What shifts it is understanding what's underneath it. The structure that's draining you. The things that went quiet that used to matter.

When that starts to change - when you stop just surviving the day - you'll feel it in your body before you can name it.
