Untangle the
Mom Guilt
Art as therapy sessions for mothers trying really hard, doing everything right, and still ending up exhausted, angry, and not quite sure who she is anymore.
The same motherhood, with less guilt (more feel-good)
The good girl is trying
really hard to be a good mom.
Acknowledging you might not actually be fine can be hard. The resentment, the outbursts, the total lack of consistent parenting responses — those are the indicators. But figuring out why it's happening and what to do about it to actually show up as the mom and partner you want to be — that is not easy at all.
And the ten million courses promising quick results work for some moms (not me...). If you're anything like me, you have a feeling talking isn't going to cut it — the dysregulation, the silent seething, the daydreaming of an emergency room stay just to get some rest.
You know you process best face to face. You don't want to waste time (or money) doing something that won't work. You're here, probably in the middle of the night, wondering WTF that even was today, and you want to feel better like yesterday.
Untangle Sessions are one-to-one support individualized to your unique motherhood landscape. We'll figure out the root cause together. Then find the right path for your specific situation — and start feeling good about the mom you're being. Guilt-free? I'm no magician. But we can hope for more feel-good and less guilty AF.
Moms typically feel better after just one session and report lasting change after 6-ish sessions.
Why this works differently
My approach
to this work.
This sits somewhere between counselling and coaching. I always show up as a social worker — that's the lens I bring, and it doesn't change. What does change is the format.
Most of my clients — and honestly, their friends and family — dread starting with someone new because they don't want to spend three sessions catching a stranger up on their whole life story. You don't have to do that here. I don't need all of it. Not unless you want to tell me.
Before we meet for a 20-min consult, I send a short questionnaire — multiple choice, takes most people 5 to 10 minutes. I ask about your relationship with your mother, how you were raised, what your communication style is like. The things that actually matter. By the time we sit down, I already have a working picture.
You'll get direct, honest feedback — not just validation. Real information, perspective, and a practical direction forward. You always have the final say. If something doesn't land, we find another way.
A lot of moms notice a real shift after just one session. Want a preview of what the intake looks like? Download the Starter Kit — coming soon. In the meantime, book a consult.
Sessions are
Before we book
We start with a free consult — a short conversation for both of us to figure out if this is the right fit. Fill out the form at the bottom of this page to get started.
I keep a short waitlist. When you're in distress, waiting months to be seen makes no sense.
The Process
Here's how this works.
Three steps. No guessing, no waiting to figure out if this is right for you.

Tell me what's going on. Short form at the bottom of this page — fill it out and I'll take it from there.
I'll send a short questionnaire before we meet for our consult. It's multiple choice. Most people finish it in 5 to 10 minutes. I ask about your relationship with your mother, how you were raised, your communication style — the things that actually matter for where we're going.

Once I have your intake, we book a 20-min consult — a short conversation to make sure this is the right fit for both of us. No life-story required. Just enough to confirm we're a good match and figure out which format makes sense for where you're at.
From there, we coordinate schedules and lock in your sessions.
-
In our first session we go through what I noticed in your intake, what I think is happening underneath it, and what we might try. You have the final say on everything. If something doesn't feel right, we find another way.
After that, it depends on what you chose.
Intensives are the fancy coffee shop order — expensive upfront, you clear your whole morning, and you walk out with something real. Half day or full day, one focused block of work. Worth every minute.
Packages are the Keurig — still really good coffee, better for your budget and your schedule, built for the long game. 90 minutes is quick, trust me. Three, six, or nine sessions, weekly or at whatever pace works.
Both get you to the same place. Neither is better than the other. The making is the work either way.
Untangle Sessions includes.

Investment.
I care deeply about access. There's a difference between something being an investment — where you adjust your disposable income to make it work — and a hardship, where paying would mean choosing between this and rent or groceries.
The sliding scale is based on your annual household gross income. It runs on an honour system. You don't need to prove anything. If you're unsure which tier applies, check last year's income tax.
Hourly rate by household income
Up to $50,000 | $105 / hr
$51,000 - $75,000 | $125 / hr
$76,000 - $100,000 | $145 / hr
$101,000 - $150,000 | $195 / hr — standard rate
$151,000 - $200,000 | $245 / hr
$201,000 - $300,000 | $295 / hr
$301,000+ | $395 / hr
90-minute sessions = 1.5× your hourly rate. Half day intensive (3 hrs) = 3×. Full day (6 hrs) = 6×.
Pay in full or payment plan available. All payments are non-refundable. Additional sessions beyond your package are charged separately.
If this would cause genuine hardship, let's talk.

This is for you if
This sounds like you.
You were raised to read the room before you could read.
You've caught yourself thinking "I would never do that to my kids" — and then done exactly that.
You've tried talking about it and nothing actually changed.
You know something is off but you can't find the words for what it is.
You're ready to show up to something, even if you're not sure what yet.
This isn’t right for you if
This isn't the fit.
You're in active crisis and need immediate clinical support. (I can help you find the right fit.)
You're looking for a structured program to follow or a quick fix.
Art scares the shit out of you and you have zero intention of doing it. (If it just makes you nervous — that's fine. That's actually the point.)
I’m Kayla Huszar
Registered Social Worker,
expressive arts practitioner,
recovering good girl.
I work with mothers who were raised to be good girls — the ones who kept it quiet, kept it together, and kept everyone else comfortable.
This work is not about doing motherhood better. It's about figuring out what you actually need, and building the grit to go get it.
I use collage, sketchnoting, and visual work because some things go deeper than words can reach. The making is the work.
Virtual. Canada-wide and internationally.

healing instead of just coping.
Work that lingers
Expressive arts sessions produce something tangible — collages, sketchnotes, messes on paper that somehow say the thing you couldn't. Clients often look at what they made and think: oh. that's what that was.
Untangle Sessions:
one-to-one mom guilt sessions.
